Paraphrasing an RCOS news release........

Meade cannot call a telescope that does not have a concave hyperbolic primary and convex hyperbolic secondary a Ritchey-Chrétien nor use RC or R for telescopes that do not meet this prescription. Meade also agreed to pay us $40K - for expenses that RCOS incurred to enforce “truth in advertising”.

Yup, it's not an RC if it has a corrector plate and a spherical primary.
That's all there is to it!
