OK I will wade in . My name has been bantered about because of my support of the YAHOO group. Sorry I like what it provides me. Am I leaving here NOT!. I find the changes a bit of a challenge to learn and with time so short it will take a while to find my way around. To me simpler is better. No one can claim to be much help until when you do a search on one of the main search engines (GOOGLE) under observatories that they show up in the first two pages. That is where I started and will go a long way in bringing in new users. Neither group nor Explora-Dome show up anywhere at all. Also in the list of amateur observatories there is nothing. If you expect to draw new users you have to go find them, or at least help them find you. As for the changes too much too fast, a little at a time works better. Gives one a chance to learn with out burying him under the curve.
Again I'm not going anywhere I will continue to support and post on both sites.

Merlin As you are already quite aware I am a member of more than one forum dealing with observatories and even a member in three Yahoo Groups. (Although I wouldn't say I was a very active member) so would never hold it against you or anyone for supporting the Yahoo ED forum. and I doubt anyone else on the site would. Always good to read your input. See ya around! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I am sure that if members just take the time to get used to the new layout they will come to appreciate all the improvements the new software provides.
Rodney why not leave your account in place and just look in every once in a while.
This Forum is what it's MEMBERS make it!
So it is still an "ED forum"!

T-shirts! What a great frakin' idea! S, M, L or XL? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
If by "Ronbo" you mean Ron Walker, he's still here.
If you mean Rodney Owens, he's here from time to time.
Mostly he's on the Yahoo ED group.

Oh, Steve! Do you do T-shirts in additon to hats? Embroidery might be overkill (and might not survive the washing machine as well?) but do you & Marge do either latex or screen printing?

When the new "skin" is done we'll need a few!

Yes, we do shirts also....I'd like to suggest black hoodies for around 20 bucks apiece. I'd have to do the set-up to get an actual price.

We do not do screening or latex, although latex is real nice, it seems to last longer tha screening. what do you think?

I've a bunch of worn out T's and sweats that have the embroidery intact.

I've always found latex to be "sweaty" and somewhat fragile. As a result I prefer silk screen. Never had an embroidered T before...
Let's see what color the new skin is and figure out the colors of the fabric from there... I'm partial to sky blue...

I'm still here! Where would I go and still find such great people.

Because of the normal Winter/Spring work load, and learning this new board (which I'm loving more and more each day) I have been a bit lax in my planetarium duties. Will try and get more on the ball.

So is this the final skin? I was looking to change it back to a lighter shade since to me it appears dim. But if this is it, then that's it.

We are still doing some work on the skin, but yes, this is the one that we are going with.

What parts look dim to you? We can possibly brighten them up.

Just a suggestion from an outsiders view. The icons indicating new posts or no posts are rather hard to discern. Awhile back there where flashing icons idicating new posts. Then again there is the view new posts tab up top, but then newbies won't be inclined to look around using that new posts tab. Make it an easter egg hunt, only for information.

Things like that are easy to change. In fact, I was going to suggest putting the WORD "New" on the "New" button, so just a color difference was not all it was... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Also, when we finalize the color shade for the backgrounds, we'll get all the buttons fixed to match... Right now, you'll notice on the lighter background, those images have a squared dark edge... When done, they will be rounded, and the color will blend.

THAT is pretty much contrary to everything we are trying to do with this forum.

If we had wanted it to be an "egg hunt", we'd have stayed on Yahoo....

I was planning on replacing the folder icons with astronomy related icons. Just haven't gotten to it yet.
