I have not yet decided on how hight ti make the support building.
Either low so you view comfortably or higher to be able to stand in the corners.
The latter would need a step or so for viewing.
Or, an adjustable pier like the pier tech? Any opinions/advice on this?
Thanks,

IMHO...Comfort at the eyepiece is numero uno!!!

If I could afford the adjustable height pier, I'd have one.

The PierTech would also work well if you changed scopes or mounts. What scope do you have?

To me comfortable viewing is the most important. Whe your cmera is attached it does'nt matter how high it is; everything is either run through your computer or hand held device.

My wall height is ~55" and with my pier combination the minimum I can view at is 15 degrees above the horizon.

Many thanks, it helps to arrive at a choice.

In terms of piers I have just found this Danish company that makes lifting piers/colums that look remarkably like Piertechs Pier tech 2 ($1500, $1750 for 220v).

In fact I read a report on the net about a German guy that disassembled a piertech and found Linak parts in-there.
I communicated with Piertech but they are not forthright on how they relate to or improve on Linak.
The local Linak sales guy is very helpful however and tells me that a DL2 pier sells for 450 Euro ($590) He is bringing me a demo model in the next weeks to try out.

And piertechs heavier pier look suspiciously similar to the Linak LP2

Very cool! It's always best to get your kit from within the EU if you can. In this case, it's less than half the price as well! This is a win-win situation, everybody wins!
